National Kidney Preservation Service | Belgium
This national program supports the use of hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) for all DCD and DBD-ECD kidneys to improve renal transplant outcome and enhance the acceptance rate of such kidneys for transplantation.

LifePort Preservation Process Overview
- Comprehensive anatomy review (US only)
- Completion of all required documentation
- Digital pictures and/or video of the organ
- Minimal dissection before cannulation and placement on the device
- Initiation of hypothermic machine preservation and organ monitoring
- Direct communication as needed with transplant center contacts
- Transportation coordination from the LifePort Preservation Center to the transplant center (US only)
- Coordination of device retrieval
