Selecting a Home Base
A home base station should be designated for each LifePort Kidney Transporter where it can be set up and recharged between perfusion cases. Before you receive the call that LifePort Kidney Transporter is needed, keep it ready to go by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are packed and ready to go to the recovery site, as seen in this video.
Cooling Down LifePort Kidney Transporter
Providing a stable, cold environment for the explanted kidney is an integral part of LifePort Kidney Transporter system. To avoid freezing the kidney, use only ice (crushed or cubed is best!) and water in LifePort Kidney Transporter Ice Container. Use this video to refresh your memory on best practices.
Loading the Perfusion Circuit
LifePort Kidney Transporter Disposable Perfusion Circuit contains the fluid management components necessary for perfusing a single kidney under aseptic conditions. Entering Organ ID Information
LifePort Kidney Transporter has the ability to store and display the explanted kidney Organ ID, kidney type (right or left), blood type, and cross clamp time. No more flipping back and forth between perfusion prep and donor documentation; LifePort Kidney Transporter can display the kidney information for you.

Priming the Infuse Line
Before we can start perfusing the kidney, we have to make sure the Infuse Line is primed with perfusate and ready to go. Watch this video on how to get it started.
Initiating Perfusion
After ensuring the Infuse Line is primed, it’s time to select a pumping pressure. LifePort Kidney Transporter has a default setting of 30 mmHg, but is adjustable according to perfusion needs. This video will show you how to adjust the pressure and how to start perfusing the kidney.
Closing LifePort Kidney Transporter
LifePort Kidney Transporter is designed for unattended use, with no need for continuous monitoring of the kidney. Watch this video to see exactly how to close the system, while maintaining sterility.
Checking Parameters
LifePort Kidney Transporter Outer Display provides comprehensive information on the status of perfusion, providing information on pressure, flow, resistance, and temperature. Press the PLOT/CLEAR button on the far-left side to temporarily display trending data for flow and resistance.
Removing the Kidney

Cleaning Up After a Case

Swapping Batteries
If you’re traveling a far distance with LifePort Kidney Transporter, or you forgot to charge the batteries, that’s okay! LifePort Kidney Transporter draws power from one battery at a time, so this video can show you how to swap out depleted batteries for fully charged ones without interrupting perfusion. Remember to plug LifePort Kidney Transporter into AC mains whenever possible.

LifePort Kidney Transporter Cover provides easy handling and enhanced protection during travel. The Display Panel is visible through LifePort Kidney Transporter Cover at all times, and has separate, secure storage for donor documentation and cross match samples.
